3 Common Kitchen Layout Mistakes The Pros Don’t Make

The importance of a good kitchen layout cannot be overstated. No matter how busy we are in our lives, the kitchen is one of the few places where we spend most of our time when we are at home. Ask any kitchen remodeling expert and they will tell you that even if you pick out the most beautiful fixtures and finishes and purchase the most expensive appliances, without a good layout your kitchen will not function the way you want it to.

In today’s post, The Kitchen Store shares three of the most common layout mistakes so you can avoid them when redoing your kitchen.

1. Not Measuring Appliances

When remodeling your kitchen, it is important that you measure any new appliances, especially refrigerators and dishwashers, before starting the project. Lack of planning when it comes to appliances can lead to annoying protrusions. Oversized appliances can also get in the way of your kitchen cabinets.

2. Not Following The Triangle Rule

The kitchen triangle or the working triangle consists of your sink, stove, and refrigerator. It is a theory developed in the mid-twentieth century that remarkably still applies to this day. According to the kitchen triangle rule, your fridge, sink, and stove should not be less than 13 or more than 26 feet apart. Kitchen remodeling services swear by this rule and utilize it in all their kitchen layout designs.

3. Poor Light Placement

This is another common mistake that homeowners make especially when DIY-ing a kitchen remodel. If you do not put the right light fixtures over your countertops and stove, you will end up cooking in the dark. When selecting lights for your kitchen, it is also important to choose functionality over aesthetics.

From kitchen cabinet refacing to full-scale kitchen remodeling, The Kitchen Store can get the job done for you.
